William D. "Don" Wilhelm, 88, of Eaton, OH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, April 15, 2015 at his home. Born in College Corner, IN, he joined the Marine Corp at age 17 and served for 2 years during WW II. He worked as a machinist for AVCO in Richmond, IN for 22 years: several years with McCall's in Dayton; and as the Ranger at Woodland Trails Boy Scout Camp in Camden from 1973 - 1980; then as a farm hand at Toney's Twin Acres Farm in Preble County. After retiring, he mowed at the golf course at Hueston Woods State Park for 5 years. Don served as Scoutmaster for Troop 78 in Eaton from 1960 - 1972 and received the Silver Beaver Award. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and visited 49 of 50 states during family vacations. Preceded in death by wife Lois Jane (Caldwell) Wilhelm on October 16, 2011: parents Dale and Bessie (Schiely) Pendergrass: son-in-law Stanley Brown in 2013: and grandson Michael Frederick in 2009. Survived by children Michael K. Wilhelm of Eaton; Kent A. Wilhelm & wife Diane of Camden, OH; Barbara S. Brown of Eaton: and Peggy J. Frederick & husband Kelly of Eaton: grandchildren Shawn Wilhelm, Shellie Baugh, Matthew Wilhelm, April Brown and Mitchell Frederick: and 8 great grandchildren.
