West Alexandria

Will “Phil” Tinell

72, of West Alexandria, passed away Thursday. October 19, 2023.

He was born May 26, 1951 to the late Richard M. and Josephine K. (Key) Tinell.

In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his siblings, Joyce, Leonard, and Frank.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children Stacey, Angie, and Doug; step-children, Linda, TJ, Jennie, and James; numerous grandchildren; siblings, Dottie, Lois, and Ray; and his dog, Doug.

Phil's journey through life was filled with incredible experiences, and one of the most significant chapters was his service in the Marine Corps. He exhibited unwavering loyalty, courage, and discipline during his time in the service, qualities that defined him as a person. He served his country with honor and dedication, and his fellow Marines knew him as a brother who had their backs in times of adversity.

Phil's artistic talents shone brightly through his love for creating dream catchers. Each one he made was a testament to his intricate handiwork and attention to detail, capturing the dreams and aspirations of those who were lucky enough to receive one. His dream catchers will continue to hang as symbols of his love and creativity.

Phil was often found immersed in the pages of Western novels. He had a deep appreciation for the rugged landscapes, the untamed frontier spirit, and the heroic tales that these books contained. His love for Western literature sparked many conversations and connections with friends and family.

But Phil's interests extended beyond the pages of a book. He was a dedicated explorer of hidden treasures, and the thrill of the hunt at auctions, yard sales, and flea markets was a passion he eagerly shared with others. The stories behind each find and the joy of unearthing something special were experiences he cherished.

When he was able, Phil would attend Family Life Church in West Alexandria.
