Virginia Joan Towne

Virginia Joan Towne left her earthly home at the Greenbriar Nursing Center on Saturday May 11. She was born on May 20, 1940, the daughter of John and Nellie Towne of Xenia, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Billy, and her step-mother Frances Pauline Towne. She is survived by her cousin Jim Badgerly and wife Irma of Columbus, Ohio; friend and guardian Kim Posey; special friends and adoptive family Don and Diana Starr and family, and numerous friends, neighbors and caregivers. Virginia, known to most acquaintances as "Joan" was a well-known resident of West Alexandria and Eaton, Ohio for many years. She was employed at L&M Products, Miller's IGA, and Hardees Restaurant. She is remembered as being strong-willed, but kind of heart; fond of her cat Penny; a devoted Reds and Cubs fan, and proud of achieving a life of independence after overcoming many challenges. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 11 am at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center - Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, Ohio. Pastor Gerald R. Sadai will officiate. Friends are welcome to share their memories of Virginia and her remarkable life. Interment will follow at the Woodland Cemetery in Xenia, Ohio. A burial/memorial fund has been established in her name at the Eaton National Bank. Contributions may be made at the bank or at the funeral home.
