Vincenza "Jennie" Mcgarvey

Vincenza "Jennie" McGarvey, 93, of Brookville, OH and formerly of Trenton, OH, entered into eternity on Monday morning, May 25, 2015. She was born March 1, 1922 in New York City, NY. Her parents, Enrico & Concetta (Truglio) DiMaggio, came to America from Italy. Vincenza grew up with Old World values and lived in an age that saw the Great Depression, World War II, the first man on the moon, and the many changes that occurred during her lifetime. And, yes, she was a distant cousin to baseball great Joe DiMaggio. She met and married a young man by the name of Clarence "Mike" McGarvey. Together, they had three children, Teresa, Michael and Mary Ann. They lived in Trenton for over 30 years. Mike died at an early age in 1968 when he was 45; and daughter Mary Ann Chamberlain passed several years later in 1972. Jennie is also preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Grazioli and brother Joe DiMaggio. She is survived by children Teresa "Terry" Garner of Brookville, OH, with whom she lived for 10+ years; and son Michael McGarvey and wife Barb of Trenton, OH: 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren: and brother Jack DiMaggio of Sterling Heights, Michigan. A graveside service will be held 10:00 am Thursday morning, May 28, 2015 at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery, West Alexandria. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
