Verna Ruth Martin

Verna Ruth Martin, 82, of Centerville, IN and formerly of West Alexandria, OH and Woodhaven, MI, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning June 3, 2018. Born September 8, 1935 in Rose Hill, VA, she was a daughter of the late Millard D. and Nora Lee (Osborne) Hensley. Verna worked for several years at McCall Publishing in Dayton. When she met her husband Jack H. Martin, she then became a stay at home wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, vegetable and flower gardening, canning, quilting, sewing, crochet , embroidery, painting and crafts. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death on July 15, 2015 by husband of 60 years Jack H. Martin; 1 brother and 3 sisters. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, Verna is survived by her children Pamela S. Rivers of West Alexandria, Jack A. (Rhonda) Martin of West Alexandria, and Patricia A. (Richard) Roberts of Centerville, IN; 15 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters and 1 brother. Friends may call on the family from 12:00 - 2:00 PM Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Harold Young presiding. Burial at Sugar Grove Cemetery will follow services.
