Verla Baker

Verla (Barnes) Baker, age 87 of New Lebanon, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, OH. She was born August 27, 1929 in Pulaski County, KY. She was married for 65 years to Emery Lewis Baker who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents Perry & Mary (Bolton) Barnes; daughter Donna Jean Baker; sisters Stella Barnes, Della Dykes, Katherine Barnes, Athena Mounce and Vella Barnes; brothers Everett, Richard, George, Edward, Clifford, Herman and Cleamon Barnes. She is survived by sister-in-law Ruby Barnes and a number of nieces and nephews. Verla retired after working several years for Van Dyne Crotty, Inc. She enjoyed retirement and spent most of her time with family, gardening and traveling. Friends may call on the family Sunday March 12, 2017 from 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center, West Alexandria. Funeral service to be held Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Nathan Hundley presiding. Burial Preble Memory Gardens.
