Velma "Jackie" Singleton

Velma J. "Jackie" Singleton, 67, of Lewisburg, OH, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, July 21, 2012 following a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born in Eubank ,KY, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd & Verna (Ruckel) Burton. Her working career began as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone and General Telephone. She then worked as a bank teller at Brookville National Bank in Brookville and later at PNC Bank in Brookville. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by husband Loren D. Singleton whom she married August 8, 1964: children Douglas Singleton & wife Fay of Lewisburg; Deron Singleton of Lewisburg; and Carla Lunsford & husband Rudy of Eaton: grandchildren Keelin, Kyle, Serena, Trenton, Brandon, Savanna, Ben and Isaac: sister Geral (Ray) Owens of Tennessee: brother Jan (Dianne) Burton of KY: several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: nieces and nephews. Friends may call on the family from 10:00 - 11:30 AM Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM with Pastor Jeremy Halstead presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Assn.
