Susie Watson

Susie Upton Watson, age 75, of Eaton, OH and formerly of Brookville, OH, passed away Friday morning, August 19, 2011. Born in Barwick, KY, she was a daughter of the late James & Sylvania (Collins) Farler. She retired in 1997 after 10 years of service to the Brookhaven Nursing & Care Center in Brookville. Member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Eaton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers Harlan, Sam and Brian Farler. Susie was a loving and devoted mother to her eight children. She worked hard caring for them by raising a vegetable garden and canning for the upcoming winter and spring. She made many of the clothes they wore by carefully sewing patterns from memory. Her cooking was second to none; and she enjoyed making quilts, writing poetry and telling stories to her family as she shared childhood memories about growing up in Barwick. She is survived by her 8 children, Hazel McKown of Brookville; Larry C. Upton of New Carlisle, OH; Dottie Blackford of Lewisburg, OH; Chester Upton, Jr. of Lewisburg; Patricia Weaver of Verona, OH; Rodney Upton of Charlotte, NC; Angela Hayslett of Lewisburg; and Marion (Mary) Singleton of West Alexandria, OH: 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren: sister Olieah Parker of Dayton, OH: and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call on the family from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at the Funeral Home with Jeff Heaggy presiding. Immediately following the service on Saturday, the family invites all friends to join them for a meal and time of sharing in the Funeral Home's Community Center.
