Sue Ann Root

Sue Ann Root, 69, of Germantown, OH,passed away Tuesday night, July 14, 2020 at Hospice of Dayton following a lengthy illness. Born December 6, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Leona (Ullery) Shimp. Sue was a 1969 graduate of Dixie High School in New Lebanon; earned her Bachelors degree from Miami University in1973 and went on to earn a Masters Degree in Library Science from Wright State University. Sue taught Family & Consumer Science for 21 years, 3 for Brookville Public Schools and 19 for Valley View Public Schools. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by beloved son Wes on July 4, 2006 and brother Dick Shimp on May 11, 2016. Survived by daughter-in-law Lisa D. Root of Germantown; granddaughter Rachel Root of Germantown; sister-in-law Joyce Shimp of Eaton; longtime friend Marty Lewis; and nephews Jim Shimp and wife Sandy, Jeff Shimp and wife Pam, and John Shimp and wife Jenny. Services will be private with burial at Trissel Cemetery with her family. Arrangements entrusted to Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center, West Alexandria.
