Shirley Murray

83, of Trotwood, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 19, 2024.

She was born November 13, 1940, to the late Ernest and Janice Stover.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Gary; grandson, Nathan; and siblings, Gary, Forest, Glen, and Janice.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Becky), Christian, Tina, and Amity (Jim); grandchildren, Brian, Josh, Blake, Miranda, Randy, and Grayce; great grandchildren, JJ, Gavin, and Madison; and sister, Janet.

A passionate genealogist, Shirley could trace her family’s roots all the way back to the 1700s. Her dedication to uncovering her ancestors’ stories was a true labor of love, one that connected her deeply to the past and brought countless family members closer together. She cherished sharing the discoveries she made with her loved ones, reminding everyone of the importance of family and heritage.

Shirley also knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. She was an avid bingo player, and the excitement of calling out a winning number brought her joy and many friendships over the years. She loved her time spent in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan at Lake Gulliver, where she would fish and enjoy the peacefulness of nature. Those trips to the candy store and county fairs, full of sweet treats and fond memories, were some of her happiest times, shared with family and friends.

A visitation will be held Friday, September 27 from 12PM to 2PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria.  The funeral service will begin at 2PM with family and friends sharing stories and memories of Shirley.  She will be laid to rest at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery, next to her beloved husband, Gary.
