Shirley (Hill) Allen, age 84, of New Lebanon, OH, went to join her husband Bill in heaven on Monday, August 31, 2020 while at Ohio Hospice after a lengthy illness. Shirley was born in Owsley County, KY to Ruford and Bertha (Hensley) Hill on October 30, 1935, and grew up in Berea, KY. She worked as a dental assistant prior to her marriage to Bill on November 26, 1958, and afterwards, until moving to New Lebanon, OH in 1959, where Bill took his first teaching job. Shirley also babysat and later worked for the Senior Resource Center at the New Lebanon Methodist Church, where she and Sue Brunk cooked lunches for the local senior citizens who all became treasured friends. Shirley and Bill attended the New Lebanon United Methodist Church where they were very active up until Bill's death, and were big supporters of the Dixie Greyhounds for over 60 years. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill Allen; three sisters-in-law; two brothers -in-law; niece Marcia Hill and many family members. She is survived by her children Paula (Jerry) Bell of Miamisburg, OH, John (Wendy) Allen of Liberty Township, OH, and Terry (Ken)Watts of New Lebanon, OH; grandchildren Derek Bell, Brandy (Steve Gingry) Howard, Kaylee (TJ) Bechtel, Logan Watts and Zachary Allen; great grandchildren Ashlyn and Colton Gingry, and Jaxson and Clayton Bechtel; sister Gail Sexton of New Palestine, IN; brother Glenn Hill of Lancaster, KY; nephew Jim Burton and family of Ft. Pierce, FL; niece Tammy Shelley and family, and nephew Monte Hill and family, all of KY. The family would like to thank the New Lebanon United Methodist Church family who continued to visit Shirley, especially Melinda Cox. Also to the Ohio Hospice of Dayton staff, who lovingly cared for her in her final days. Per Shirley's wishes, private graveside services will be for the family only. A memorial service may be held in the future.
