Ruby B. Humphrey

Ruby B. Humphrey, age 91, passed into the spirit phase of her life at her home on October 29, 2016. She was born to Martha and Frank Brandenburg in Preble County, OH on Nonember 11, 1924, the last of 12 children. She worked many years at National Cash Register in Dayton, OH, but her favorite job was in her later years driving cars for Avis, where she made so many good friends and enjoyed many good times with them. She retired from Avis at the age of 80 and moved to be with her daughter Lynn in Columbus. She is survived by her son Bruce Humphrey; daughters Lynn Humphrey and Nancy (David) Baker; daughter-in-law Carol Humphrey; special friends Susan Hanhilammi and Libby Wiegel; her grandchildren Stefan (Barb) Humphrey, Aimee (Josh) Hoffmann, and Michael Baker; great grandchildren Greg (Latisha) Humphrey, Alexandra Brown, Adam Knox and Ethan Hoffmann; great great grandchildren Jaxx Humphrey and Noah Lemons; sisters-in-law Virginia Brandenburg, Lucille Brandenburg, and Vivian O'Brien; many nieces and nephews, all whom she loved so much; and a multitude of wonderful friends. She is partying in heaven with her mother and father; sisters Lucille (John) Hechman, Margaret (Charles) Gross, Clara Brandenburg, Mildred (Carl) Yokers, Helen (Jordan) Willhoite; brothers Carl (Colleen) Brandenburg, Orville (Lucille) Brandenburg, Lloyd (Goldie) Brandenburg, Russell (Dorothy) Brandenburg, Robert (Kay) Brandenburg, and John (Virginia) Brandenburg. Ruby had a kind heart and was loved by many wonderful people. She loved life, her family and her many friends, and was always ready for a good time. She enjoyed women's basketball, especially the OSU Buckeyes and the Columbus Quest; fishing in Canada; house boating at Lake Cumberland; vacationing in Hawaii and Las Vegas; playing with her dog Carson; and living life to the fullest. Special thanks to Ohio Health Hospice, Dr. Ron Budzik for his kindness, Ben Hanhilammi for being a loving companion, Donna Mogavero for giving her a last concert, David Hanhilammi for his loving care, and all her many wonderful friends who spent time loving her, brought food, sat with her and cared for her. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH. After a dismissal prayer at 1:00 PM, the procession will travel to Fairview Cemetery in Gratis, OH, where a brief service will take place at the graveside.
