Roy “Butch” Day
77, of Lewisburg, passed away, Monday, September 2, 2024.
Butch was born November 7, 1946, in Dayton, to the late Roy and Grace L. (Johnson) Day.
In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Charles Captain.
He is survived by his sisters, Thea (Bill) Marker and Robin Day-Captain; nieces and nephews, Brandon Marker, Casey (Joe) Puckett, Sarah (Marc) Casebolt, James (Brandy) Booher; special cousin, Frankie (Anita) Durham; and numerous cousins, great nieces and great nephews, and family members.
Butch dedicated over 20 years of his life to serving at the Lanier Township cemeteries, where his commitment and attention to detail were deeply appreciated by all who knew him. His work was a testament to his character—steadfast, reliable, and always performed with a quiet dignity that touched the lives of many.
Beyond his work life, Butch was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman, never missing a chance to cast his line and see what was biting. Whether it was a quiet afternoon by the lake or an adventurous day out, fishing brought him happiness.
Butch also had a passion for riding mopeds and quads, a pastime that allowed him to feel the freedom of the open road. Whether it was exploring the local trails or taking trips to the scenic routes in Kentucky, he cherished every moment on the trails, feeling the wind on his face and the thrill of the ride.
Butch will be remembered not only for his dedication and hard work but also for his warm spirit and love of life. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and a community that will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held Thursday, September 5 from 10AM to 11AM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS CEMETERY, West Alexandria. The funeral service will begin at 11AM with Pastor David Spears officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria.
