Roy L. “Buckle” Couch

Roy L. "Buckle" Couch, 78, of Dayton, OH, passed away Friday evening March 30, 2018. Born April 19, 1939 in Hyden, KY, he was a son of the late Roy and Sophia (Holland) Couch. He was drafted into and served with the US Army for two years in the late 1950's. He worked for over 30 years as an over the road truck driver, having worked for J.B. Hunt, USA, Schneider and several other trucking companies. Buckle loved being on the road. Even after retirement, he traveled all over the US with his family in his RV. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters. He grew up next door to Gladys Smith in Hyden, dated her for three years and married her nearly 55 years ago. Survived by his lifelong sweetheart, Gladys: children Brenda Guerra and husband Joe of Wilmington, NC; Roger Couch and wife Jeanette of Deltona, FL; Larry Couch and wife Katherine of Springfield, OH; and Patricia Moore-Good and husband Todd of Union, OH: grandchildren Brittany Snider, Joshua Guerra, Chelsea Guerra, Andrew Couch, Casey Couch, Miranda Shepard, Matthew Couch, Jaycob Couch, Stephen Couch, Dayvid Couch, Jordyn Couch, Larry Adam Couch, Thomas Couch, Shelby Moore, and Jordan Good: great grandchildren Mason Snider, Cameron Couch, Makenna Couch and Alex Shepard: sisters Leeroy Couch of Hyden, KY; and Elva Lee Smith of Dayton; half brother Mitchell Burns of Jamestown, OH: along with a host of nieces and nephews. Friends may call on the family from 12:00 - 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at The Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH.
