Robert “Bob” Leon Motes
75, of New Lebanon, peacefully went to be with the Lord, Friday, December 6, 2024.
He was born November 21, 1949, in Dayton, Tennessee, to the late Robert and Ruth (Ward) Motes.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his siblings, Don Motes, Donna Jean Motes, and Gary Motes.
He is survived by his son, Cody (Shaniqua) Motes; daughter, Ciara (Kyle) Nearing; grandchildren, Emmett, Amelia, Elexis, and Cody; siblings, Debra (Eddie) Pogue, Ron Motes, and Cathy Motes; and many more family and friends.
Robert answered the call of duty in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country with honor, volunteering for two tours in Vietnam. His bravery and dedication were a testament to his unwavering commitment to protecting and serving others.
After his military service, Robert worked for over 30 years at General Motors, where his strong work ethic and camaraderie left a lasting impression on his colleagues. Upon retirement, he pursued his many passions and hobbies.
Robert was a skilled gunsmith, finding joy in the precision and craftsmanship of his work. He loved fishing for bass in the serene waters of Tennessee, often sharing stories of his favorite catches. An avid pool player, he could often be found perfecting his shots and enjoying friendly competition.
A talented woodworker, Robert had a knack for creating meaningful keepsakes. His signature carved cowboy boots became cherished gifts for friends and family, a symbol of his thoughtful and generous spirit.
Robert will be laid to rest with military honors at Dayton National Cemetery at a later date.
