Robert “Bobby Joe” Guckian, age 80, of Eaton, OH., was reunited with his wife in Heaven on Monday, October 16, 2023. He was born in Richmond, IN., to Willard and Maude Guckian on April 11, 1943.
Bobby Joe’s passions were as vast as his heart. He found joy and respite in the world of electric trains, spending countless hours operating, maintaining, and restoring them. Through this passion he was instrumental in bringing the Christmas train display to the Eaton area for many years via the Miami Valley S Gaugers train club of which he was a member. He also enjoyed plowing and tractor pulling contests, farming and all things John Deere. Bobby Joe formed lasting memories during his middle and high school years as a member of “The Stardusters” band, sharing their rhythms at school dances. During his later years he returned to playing saxophone in the Eaton Community band. His commitment to his faith led him to become an active member of The Church at Sugar Valley, where he found solace and purpose. Throughout his life, Bobby Joe had a strong work ethic and was known for always staying busy and fixing of various things. Yet, amidst his dedication to his work, he always made time for his loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, cherishing the time spent with his family. His warm smile and kind-hearted nature will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 41 years, Deborah, and his siblings; Donald, James and Alice Jean.
He is survived by his children; Bea “Denise” (Tyler) Shumard, Debbie Kay (Adam) Hoke, and Michael (Tina) Lewis, his grandchildren; PJ (Tori) Stapleton, Haley Stapleton, Alley Shumard, Daulton Shumard, Chase Shumard, Chantel Justice, Ciera (Travis) Richardson, Madeline (Joey) Hoke, and Evelyn Hinds, along with several great grandchildren, and his special dog; Bailey. As we reflect on the beautiful life of Robert “Bobby Joe” Guckian, we invite you to join us in the remembrance and celebration of his life.
