Raymond James Gilbert, Jr.

55, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away peacefully in his home, on Thursday, November 24, 2022.

He was the most amazing, loving, and devoted father and papa that any children could ask for.  Ray spent many years as a volunteer firefighter for West Manchester and Eldorado Fire Departments and was an EMT for Monroe Central Rescue Ambulance.  He greatly enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren, fishing, camping, cooking on the grill, and the occasional spin around the dance floor.

Ray was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Linda and Paul Smith; and nephew, Michael Alan Thompson.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Raymond Sr. and Judith Gilbert of Richmond, Indiana; sister, Kimberly Thompson of Richmond, Indiana; stepbrothers, Kenny (Lisa) Charles of Winchester, Kentucky and Doug Charles of Richmond, Indiana; sons, Anthony (Miranda) Gilbert of Miamisburg, Ohio and Joshua Gilbert of Eaton, Ohio; daughters, Hailey Gilbert and Kyra Gilbert, both of Eaton, Ohio; grandson, Tucker James Gilbert.

Ray touched the lives of many and had a smile and laugh that was infectious to all.  The family would love to be surrounded by friends to share memories and laughs at a visitation on Friday, December 2 from 11AM to 1PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, 3377 US Route 35 East, West Alexandria 45381.  The funeral service will begin at 1PM with Pastor Sammy Reed officiating, and burial will follow at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
