Rachel M. Chamness

87, of Eaton, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 30, 2024.

She was born January 10, 1937, in Connersville, Indiana, to the late Robert E. and Martha A. (Love) Watt.

In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Chamness; son, Arthur Cox; siblings, Sara Browning, Pat Fisher, and Bob Watt.

She is survived by her children, Dale (Karen) Cox, Elaina (Greg) Hansen, Laurie Cox, and Martha (George McKinney) Stevens; grandchildren, Eric (Tina) Phillips, Angie (Chris) Cruze, Eric (Ashley) Cox, Elisha Cotton, Bridgett (Carissa) Hesson, Shawn (Lisa) Cox, Sara (John) Williamson, Melissa (Brandon Bates) Weston, Jerad Hansen, Brittney (Eric) Achberger, Max (Amanda) Phillips, Ashley (Josh) Kinder, Austin (Danielle) Stevens, and Bradley Cox; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Ellen Cox; siblings, Doyle Watt and Roberta Dean Hartley-Haak; and many nieces and nephews.

Rachel, a true jack-of-all-trades and master of many, brought light and warmth to all who knew her. Her days were filled with passion and purpose, whether she was dancing to old country tunes at the Council on Aging, tending to her vibrant irises in her beloved flower garden, or contributing her skills as a seamstress at Richards Jackets. Rachel cherished the days spent farming alongside her dad, a testament to her deep connection to family and tradition.

Her generous spirit knew no bounds—Rachel never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a heart full of love. Her uplifting personality was infectious, and her hugs and kisses will be treasured by all who were blessed to know her. Rachel’s legacy is one of kindness, joy, and an unwavering commitment to making others feel cherished.

A visitation will be held Thursday, December 5 from 11AM to 1PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria.  The funeral service will begin at 1PM with interment to follow at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
