Paul C. "Sonny" Kayler, Jr., age 69, of New Lebanon, OH, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Dayton. Born March 25, 1942 in Richmond, IN, he was a son of the late Paul C., Sr. and Pauline E. (Flory) Kayler. Paul served 8 years in the US Navy as a Submarine Steering and Diving Technician from 1960 - 1968. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served aboard the USS Bluegill and the USS Von Steuben. A New Lebanon resident since 2000, he lived in Cotati, CA from 1972 - 2000. He retired from L3 Communications having worked at WPAFB and recently worked as a tax preparer for H & R Block through April of 2011. Member of American Legion Post #762 of New Lebanon; the New Lebanon Lions Club; and life member of the US Submarine Veterans. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death on December 8, 2004 by his wife Lorna J. (Strain) Kayler. Survived by daughters Jessica Deann Arriola of New Lebanon; Paula J. DeCosta, Edna Rae Monroe and Kira Sue Kayler all of California: 7 grandchildren: brothers John J. Kayler of New Lebanon and Keith P. Kayler of Hamilton, OH: and sister Vivienne L. Miller of California. A Celebration of Paul's Life will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 10, 2011 at the Bear Creek Church of the Brethren - 7500 W. Third. Street - Dayton, OH.
