Nancy Jean Chappel

90, of Gratis, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love at her home, on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

Nancy took great joy in her role as a mother of six and mamaw to many.  She was a member of the Gratis Brethren Church, loved the Lord, and enjoyed reading her Bible daily.  Nancy was a simple woman, finding pleasure in solving crossword puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune each evening at promptly 7PM, followed by Jeopardy of course!  Nancy will be fondly remembered for so many things, including her ability to stretch a dollar further than most and her fierce independence.  The truly lucky ones will remember her signature pancakes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eliphalet and Hazel (Wadsworth) Killen; husband of 42 years, Bob Chappel; sons, John L. and Kenny P. Chappel; daughter, Kathy A. Hunt; and brother, Bill Killen.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby L. and Joe L. Chappel; daughter, Robin J. Chappel; grandchildren, Jenny, April (Jason), Josh (Faun), Robert (Tina), Amanda (Ryan), Kenny Paul (Angel), Kevin, and Billy (Ashley); and 14 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Friday, July 5 from 10AM to 12PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria.  The funeral service will begin at 12PM with Pastor Shawn Wilges officiating.  Nancy will be laid to rest with her husband, Bob, at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
