Nancy Joy (Loney) Amstutz, 73, of Springfield, OH and formerly of Eaton, OH, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday morning, July 5, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Born October 18, 1942 in Cleveland, OH, she was a daughter of the late Walter R., Sr. & Emmadell (Sarber) Loney. She earned her Bachelors Degree from Bethel College, Mishawaka, IN; and her Masters Degree from Wright State University. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Springfield and formerly The Eaton Church of the Brethren. A former Sunday School Teacher, she was a member of the Choir at both churches and conducted the Praise and Worship Ensemble at the Eaton Church. Nancy and Neal moved from Fairborn to Eaton in 1978 and to Springfield in 2008. She taught early childhood education at Sinclair Community College: was a special education teacher from 1978 - 1982 at National Trail: and then worked as the Work Study Coordinator for Preble County, retiring in 2001. She loved music; played the violin and was a piano teacher; and at one time played with the Elkhart, IN Symphony Orchestra. She had been active with the Kairos Prison Ministry, visiting Montgomery, Clark and Preble County jails. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by paternal grandparents who raised her, Thomas & Rosa Fillio: and granddaughter Sarah Ann Howard. Survived by husband of 50 years Neal E. Amstutz whom she married July, 23, 1966: son David Amstutz of St. Petersburg, FL: daughter & son-in-law Julie & Max Howard of Bellefontaine, OH: grandchildren Lauren, Keri, Hailey and Clay Howard: siblings Walter (Jan) Loney, Jr. of Gaylord, MI; Rozella (Jim) Musick of Watervliet, MI; Raymond Henderson of Elkhart, IN; Steve Stroud of Dewey, AZ; Dane (Jan) Larsen of Wakarusa, IN; and Marty Larsen of North Liberty, IN. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, July 8, 2016 at the First Christian Church - 3638 Middle Urbana Rd. Springfield, OH. Friends may call on the family from 12:00 - 2:00 pm Friday at the Church.
