Mildred Crowell

Mildred I. Crowell, age 91, of Eaton, OH, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, May, 13, 2012. Born in 1920 in Eaton, she was a daughter of the late Earl & Velma (Daily) Brower. Music was an important part of her life. She attended Bethany Biblical Seminary in Chicago where she was a music major, and made sure her children learned a musical instrument when they were young, She formerly served as choir director at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in New Paris, OH and formerly sang with a mixed quartet in the Eaton Church of the Brethren. She worked different jobs over the years, including being an Avon representative and carpet sales. Member of the West Alexandria Church of the Brethren, Women's Christian Association; the Lakengren Card Club; Delta Theta Tau Sorority; and the Preble County Farm Bureau; and was President of the Resident's Council at Greenbriar Nursing Center. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brother Ralph Brower. She is survived by her husband Kenneth V. Crowell whom she married October 7, 1939: children Larry Crowell & wife Ruth Ann of Englewood, OH; Howard Crowell & wife Joann of Richmond, IN; Karen Kirk & husband Chuck of Germantown, OH; Monita Clark & husband Jim of Arcadia, FL; and Rhonda Lee & husband John of Eaton: 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren: sisters Helen Stubbs & husband Robert of Eaton; and Marjorie Nelson & husband Don of Kettering, OH: sister-in-law Anna Brower of Eaton: nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Pastor Mark Gardner presiding.
