Marjorie E. Mills
83, of Brookville, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
She was born December 25, 1941, in Decatur, Indiana, to the late Milton and Rhoda J. (Lehman) Gerber.
In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Ann Grossman and Carolyn Jean Juengel.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Tom Mills, whom she married June 5, 1971 at the First Mennonite Church in Berne, Indiana; daughters, Ellen (Matt) Moler and Janelle Mills; grandchildren, Erin, Timothy, and Harvey Moler; siblings, Nancy Gerber, Dennis (Nyla) Gerber, and Karen (Greg) Rabus; numerous nieces and nephews; and many more family and friends.
She dedicated over 30 years of her life to shaping young minds, beginning her teaching career in Illinois and concluding at Tri-County North. Marjorie’s passion for education was evident in every lesson she taught, and her commitment earned her a prestigious award for inspiring students to read—a testament to her belief in the power of literacy and learning.
After retiring from teaching, Marjorie found joy in an unexpected place—behind the counter at Arby’s. Her warm personality and genuine interest in people made her a favorite among customers, whom she made a point to greet by name. Whether serving a meal or sharing a kind word, Marjorie had a special way of making everyone feel welcome and valued.
Marjorie and her devoted husband, Tom, shared a love for travel that took them to breathtaking destinations around the world, including Alaska, Hawaii, Israel, and Europe. Their adventures together created countless cherished memories and deepened their appreciation for the beauty and diversity of the world.
Beyond her professional and travel pursuits, Marjorie was a talented cook, known for her extraordinary cakes that graced weddings and special occasions. Her baking skills brought joy to many celebrations, and her creations were a reflection of the love and care she poured into everything she did.
Marjorie was a faithful member of Fairhaven Church Northmont Campus, where she played an active role in the children's programs. Her kindness and dedication to nurturing young hearts extended beyond the classroom and into her church community, where she found great fulfillment in serving others.
In her free time, Marjorie found peace and joy in her garden, carefully tending to her plants and later canning the vegetables she grew with pride. Her love of gardening was another expression of her nurturing spirit and deep connection to nature.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 10AM to 12PM at Fairhaven Church, Northmont Campus, 5001 National Road, Clayton, OH 45315.
