Malcolm D. Eby

78, of Eaton, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

He was born March 22, 1946, in Richmond, Indiana, to the late Howard W. and Mildred R. (Sluterbeck) Eby.

In addition to his parents, Malcolm was preceded in death by his brothers, Morris (Micki) Eby, Nevin Eby, Dave (Judy) Eby, and Marc Eby; and brother-in-law, Cecil Alcorn.

He is survived by his son, Jonathan (Karen) Eby; grandchildren, Brenda Hole and Toddy Gibbs; brothers, Keith (Deloris) Eby and Curtis (Barbara) Eby; sisters, Rosemary (Larry) Collins and Joann Alcorn; sister-in-law, Terry Eby; and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.

Malcolm grew up on a farm in West Alexandria, Ohio with his parents and eight siblings.  He raised rabbits and ducks to sell to make extra money.  He also taught himself electrical work and learned to be inventive on the farm, making things they needed.  He especially enjoyed borrowing his older brothers motorcycles without them knowing it.  He crafted his own key and took the bike for a ride and refilling the gas when he got back, so the brothers would be none the wiser.

Malcolm was a 1964 graduate of Lanier High School where he was a member of the Flying Tigers tumbling team.  He enjoyed writing poetry in school and had one poem published in a book.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles, driving his Miata sports car, and dancing at the Moose Lodge.  Malcolm had a lifelong love of music and taught himself to play a variety of instruments.

He was a part of the Greenbush United Methodist Church community for many years and worked at Wayne Works in Indiana and Jefferson Smurfit.  Malcolm enjoyed living in the Lakengren Lake community and had many good friends there.

He considered his greatest accomplishment to be his son, Jon, whom he loved and was very proud of.

Malcolm will be missed by his family and many friends.
