Kathleen (Kelly Or Granny) Smith

Kathleen M. (Kelly or Granny) Smith, 76, of Eaton, OH, passed away Thursday evening, September 20, 2012. Born in Detroit, MI, she was a daughter of the late Frederick & Eleanor (Smith) Hatfield. She retired after 40 years in the food service industry, and was a member of the Eaton Senior Center for the last 3 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on December 20, 2008 by husband James E. Smith. Survived by children Brenda Burcham & husband Larry of Lexington, KY; Jayme Day & husband James of Eaton; Freda Smith of Eaton; and James E. Smith, II & Jackie of Nunda, NY: 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. As one of 12 children, she is also survived by brothers Frederick Hatfield of Livonia, MI; Kenneth Hatfield of Eaton: and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Jeanne McClear, the staff of Hospice of Dayton, and Greenbriar Nursing Home. Friends may call on the family from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Monday, September 24, 2012 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH.
