John Z. Owens Sr.

John Z. Owens, Sr. , 68, of New Lebanon, OH, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 7, 2017 at his residence. Born December 28, 1948, he was a son of the late George W. And Denelden E. (Jones) Owens. John retired in 2015 from Franklin Iron & Metal of Dayton after 25+ years of service; most of those years as a truck driver and several years in the Parts Department. After he retired, he worked as a delivery driver for Clark's Pharmacy in New Lebanon. Family and spending time with family were most important to John. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers in law Joe Johnston and Frank Summers. Survived by loving wife Sandy A. (Dunn) Owens, whom he married April 3, 1969: sons John Z. Owens, II and wife Kristin of New Lebanon, Steve M. Owens and wife Leslie of New Lebanon; grandchildren Abby Owens, Samuel Owens, Kaitlyn Owens and Brooke Owens; brothers and sisters George Owens and wife Patty of Urbana, OH, Leslie Johnston of Monticello, IN, Roger Owens and wife Brenda of West Alexandria, OH, Linda J. Summers of Lebanon, IN and Alma Creigh of Monticello, IN; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, July, 13, 2017 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Pastor Roger Owens presiding. Friends may call on the family at the funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday.
