John P. Mcmurray, I

John P. McMurray, I, 57, of West Alexandria passed away Sunday morning, July 26, 2020 following a brief illness. Born October 19, 1962, he was the son of Jerrald P. and Dorothy M. (Brannon) McMurray. A 1981 graduate of Twin Valley South High School, John had worked 20 years as a truck driver for Hillsboro Trucking and the last 8 months for Lewisburg Container. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the NRA and member and Past President of the Fort St. Clair Gun Club. In later years, his hobby and passion was raising chickens, and he shared the hens' eggs with both family and friends. He was a member of Grace Brethren Community Church in Glenwood. He was preceded in death by father Jerrald P. McMurray on August 6, 2002. A loving father, John is survived by children John P. McMurray, II of West Alexandria, Jerry McMurray and wife Nikki of West Alexandria, and Elizabeth Jones and husband Scott of Eaton; grandchildren Jeremiah, Hollas, Castiel and Lana McMurray, Jerrald, Arien, and Persephanie McMurray, and Will Hammond, Joshua Jones, Sophie Jones and Addalynn Jones; mother Dorothy "Dottie" McMurray of West Alexandria; sister Lori Sue Pierce and husband Joseph of West Alexandria; and nephews Chancelor Pierce and Logan Pierce. Friends may call on the family from 10:00 AM. - 12:00 PM Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria.
