John Paul Bryant

John P. Bryant, 75, of Centerville, OH and formerly of New Lebanon, OH, passed away Thursday morning August 2, 2018 following a lengthy illness. Born June 1, 1943, he was a son of Florence (Sargent) Honius and Cecil Bryant. A Vietnam War veteran, John served with the US Army from July, 1963 to April 1969 serving a 1 year deployment in Vietnam. He earned the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He had worked 10 years as a Material Handler for Parker Hannifin at their Eaton Plant and previously for Berstrom Paper Company in West Carrollton. He had attended the Assembly of God Church in New Lebanon. John was an animal lover and had raised rabbits. He enjoyed card games, made up songs that made no sense and delighted in aggravating and teasing those he really liked. He is preceded in death by his mother Florence, step father Harry Honius; and half sister Marilyn Wright. Survived by wife LaVerna I. (Craig) Bryant whom he married in 1972; step daughters Brenda Clark of Eaton, OH and Debra Dotson and husband Mark of Centerville; step grandchildren Rachel Dotson and wife Aleshia, Faith Clark, Joshua Dotson, Hope Burrell and Wesley Clark; great grandson Ethan Burrell; half sisters Frances Wells of New Lebanon, Etta, Leona and June. This family wishes to thank John's Nurses Aid Vicki and the rest of the staff of the Centerville Health and Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care and friendship. A graveside service will be held for John at 1:00 PM Monday, August 6, 2018 at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH. Arrangements entrusted to the Robert L.
