Jimmy D. McCown
63, of New Paris, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024.
He was born November 30, 1960, in Pikeville, Kentucky, to the late Russell S. and Leary M. (Mead) McCown.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his siblings, Marlene Bowman, Carolene Sims, Russell McCown Jr., John McCown, and Ricky McCown.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Jane (Robert Spangler) Howard; brother, Buford Ray; numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Jimmy was a man who radiated warmth and kindness, earning the affection and love of everyone around him. His infectious laughter and genuine smile could brighten even the darkest of days. He found pleasure in the simplicity of life – whether it was the thrill of a strike at the bowling alley, the tranquility of fishing by the water's edge, or the satisfaction of putting together boxes in the workshop. In his quiet moments, Jimmy enjoyed reading comic books, finding excitement within their pages. Additionally, he collected baseball cards, each one holding a story and a memory. While Jimmy may not have been able to play the guitar in the traditional sense, his love for strumming the strings and singing, reflected his love for music and the joy it brought him.
A visitation will be held Saturday, February 10 from 11AM to 12PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria. The funeral service will begin at 12PM with Pastor David Spears officiating. Burial will follow at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
