Janet L. Jones

Janet L. Jones, 90, of West Alexandria, OH, passed away on Sunday morning December 27, 2020. Born September 22, 1930 in Greenville, OH, she was the daughter of the late George and Louise (Dininger) Geisel. She began working with Newsweek magazine at McCalls - Dayton Press in Dayton in 1945 and finished her career as the Subscription Supervisor for Newsweek Magazine, retiring in 1971. For several years was the owner operator of Sewnique, a sewing and craft store in New Lebanon. For many years, she volunteered with the Preble County Historical Society, and along with her husband was a member of the Preble CountyAntique Tractor Club. She enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening and genealogy. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death on June 28, 2005 by beloved husband Everett Jones, whom she married December 22, 1951. Janet is survived by daughter Julia Ann Proffitt and husband Emmett of Jonesborough, TN; granddaughters Stephanie (Troy) Werner of Mason, OH and Sarah (Shain) Wyka of West Alexandria; great grandchildren Abbie, Olivia and Preston; and sister Diana (Bill) Kloetzli of Randolph, New Jersey. A private graveside service will take place at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband Everett. A gathering of family and friends for a time of remembrance will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center, West Alexandria.
