James S. Blanton, 78 formerly of West Carrollton, OH, of Englewood, FL, passed away Monday night August 23, 2021 in Florida. Born October 11, 1942 in Miamsburg, Ohio, he was the next to youngest of 14 children born to the late John L. and Matilda (Caldwell) Blanton. Jim worked 15 years for the Road Department in the City of Franklin, OH; 20 years in the warehouse for Carpet Warehouse; and 10 years for Minute Maid Orange Juice in Lakeland, FL. A devoted Christian man, he was a member of the Word of God Church in Moraine, OH and enjoyed playing music at various churches over the years. He enjoyed fishing, taking walks and riding his bicycle. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter Carol Faye Blanton; son Lawrence Wayne Blanton; and 12 of his older brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Teresa L. (Ayers) Blanton whom he married on February 11, 1984; son James Lee Blanton of Englewood, FL; step sons Scott Givens of Danville, VA and Jeremy Jordan of Spring, TX; grandchildren Shannon Pittman, Christina Pittman, Salina Daniels and James Michael Tolson; step grandsons Dallan and Gunner Givens; great grandchildren Brandon Pittman, Brianna Barthel, Jada Barthel and Kaden Graham; and his only surviving sibling, sister Jean Fortney, living in Bulgaria.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday September 1, 2021 at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery - 3377 US Rt. 35 E., West Alexandria, OH. Pastor Garnell Crawford officiating. Arrangments entrusted to Preble Memory Gardens Funeral Center, West Alexandria.
