James W. Stapleton

James Wayne Stapleton, 78, of West Alexandria, OH, left his earthly home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning April 28, 2019. Born July 18, 1940 in Buffalo, MN, he was the fourth of seven children born to the late Dale W. and Margie Stapleton. He served with US Air Force from November of 1958 to October of 1962 as an aircraft mechanic with the 305th Civil Engineering Squadron. He went on to serve with the Army National Guard from 1968 to 1975 with the 338th Supply Company of Oxford, OH. Mr. Stapleton worked as a diesel mechanic for many years, and following retirement, loved to go about anywhere and pick and collect different things. A longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Alexandria, Jim loved the Lord and was able to bring joy and laughter to all around him. He found the good in people and was willing to reach out to those in need. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by the love of his life on March 24, 2017, Marguerite Lucille (Watson) Stapleton; sons, Jimmy D. Stapleton and Wesley A. Stapleton; and brother Raymond Dale Stapleton, Jr. Left to mourn his passing are children Ryan Stapleton and wife Tammy of New Lebanon, OH, Lucinda Owens of West Alexandria, and Chasity Stanford and husband Ken of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Wes (Julie) Stapleton, Leah Stapleton, Jessica (Dave) Jarvis, Elizabeth (Chad) Stapleton and Austin Spurlock; great grandchildren Audrey, Mariah, Riley and Tyler Fletcher, and one more on the way; sisters and brother Mary Swafford of Kingston, OH, Viola Castle of Paintsville, KY, Janet (Russell) Hemphill of Monett, MO, Barbara McFarland of Eaton, and Jerry (Chrissy) Stapleton of Lead Hill, AK; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends; and his little buddies Bobo and Hershey. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. The services to acknowledge Jim's death and honor his life will begin at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 4 with Pastor David Spears presiding, and conclude at the graveside with military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard and members of the US Air Force.
