James R. "Toad" Randolph

James R. "Toad" Randolph, 68, of Gordon, OH, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 19, 2017 at the State of the Heart Hospice Inpatient Unit at Wayne Hospital in Greenville, OH. Born March 2, 1948 in McLean County, KY, he was a son of the late James Randolph and Myrtle (Walker) Baker. Jim served with the US Army from 1968 to 1970 in South Korea under the USAR Pacific Area Command. After returning from military duty, he began his working career at Lewisburg Container; then worked at Vingale Corporation in Brookville, OH from 1973 - 1980. From 1980 on, he worked as a Service Technician for Koenig Equipment in Greenville (formerly Hency's of Arcanum, OH). He was well known and well liked by so many, who knew him mostly by his nickname "Toad". Jim enjoyed camping, fishing, and attending and showing at area car shows. He had also been a part of a local Muzzle Loaders group. Survived by his wife Susan L. (Smith) Randolph whom he married December 31, 1997; daughter Melissa Strickler of New Paris, OH; grandchildren Caleb and Colin Smith; step daughter Michelle Cherry-Bowler & husband Dane of Noblesville, IN; step grandchildren Joshua, Alexis and Mason Bowler; step great granddaughter Hadlee Gunn; sisters and brothers Cheryl Baker of TN, Harold Baker of FL, Rick Baker of Richmond, IN, Jerry Baker of Eaton, OH and Karen Baker and Kay Baker both of Lewisburg, OH; special uncle Jerry Walker of Lewisburg; and his faithful, four legged friend Snowball. Jim's family invites you to honor and celebrate his life on Monday, January 30, 2017, from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Gordon United Methodist Church - 311 East Street in Gordon.
