James Edward Moodie
87, of West Alexandria, died Monday at Hospice of Dayton. He had battled serious illness for more than a decade.
“Jim”, as he was known to family and friends, was born on Oct. 22, 1936, to Elfrieda and Edward Moodie in Dayton. While attending West Alexandria High School he excelled in sports, playing football, basketball, baseball and running track. He also loved the great outdoors where he hunted and fished every chance he got.
He worked at the Inland manufacturing division of General Motors for 36 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Alexandria.
Jim is survived by his wife of 70 years Berniece Overholts Moodie and four daughters, Robin (Greg) Willis of Cincinnati, Sheri (Jeff) King, also of Cincinnati, Marsha (Bill) Ebersole of Lake Park, Iowa, and Kris (Shawn) Wade of Eaton.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings, George (Inez) Moodie of Kersey, Co., Danny Moodie (Judy) of Kettering, and Patricia Dressler of Cape Coral, Fl and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Jim will be from 10AM until noon on Saturday at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, 3377 US Route 35 East, West Alexandria 45381. It will be followed by his funeral at noon and graveside services to follow with Pastor Jerry Carter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH 45420 or the West Alexandria EMS, 8 Marty Ln, West Alexandria, OH 45381.
