James "Luke" Miller

James Luther "Luke" Miller, age 67, of New Lebanon, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, March 14, 2012 at home with his loving family by his side, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Luke was a loving husband, the greatest father, an amazing grandfather, a wonderful brother, an extraordinary uncle, and the best of friend. He was born in Harlan County, KY on August 28, 1944 to James Thomas & Docia Mae Miller. He absolutely loved being outside, whether it be spending the day fishing or hunting with his son, grandsons, nephews and other family and friends, it was always a great time for all. If he was not fishing or hunting, you would find him working in his garden, or in his yard with all his beautiful flowers. He loved all these things, but he didn't love anything more than he loved his family and his amazing friends; and spending time with them meant more to him than anything. He was a "Jack of All Trades" and a " Master of Most of Them". He was self taught in just about everything and there was nothing he couldn't fix. He was preceded in death by his parents: sister Della Mae Miller: brothers Thomas Miller and David Miller. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Ina J. Miller: son Anthony Miller & wife Kim; daughter Kim Kidwell & husband Jim: 5 grandchildren Shane Miller & wife Ashton, Casey Miller, Megan Saunders & husband Nate, Andrew Kidwell and Kortney Kidwell: 2 great grandsons Lucas and Mitchell Miller: brother John Miller & wife Geri: 5 sisters Elsie Gaskins, Mary Fleenor, Jane Hounchel, Anne Dollie and Betty Gibbs: as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was a "Hero" to his family and will be missed deeply; but we know we will all be together again, thanks to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 16, 2012 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Funeral services will be at the Funeral Home Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Stephen Betts officiating. Interment Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
