James H. Franklin

James H. Franklin, 85, of New Lebanon, OH, went home to be with the Lord on Monday evening, March 9, 2015. Born November 28, 1929 in West Liberty, KY, he was a son of the late Zenus & Anna (Lykins) Franklin. He served with the US Army from 1951 - 1953 in Germany during the Korean War. Mr. Franklin was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Lebanon. He retired in 1983 after 32 years with Dayton Press. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother Dorsie Franklin and sister Mae Trusty. Survived by wife Margaret N. (Kennard) Franklin whom he married April 16, 1951: children Brenda Holweger & husband Jay of Searsport, ME; Vanessa Vogel & husband Bill of New Lebanon; Jeff Franklin of Brookville; Kevin Franklin & wife Cheryl of Vandalia: grandchildren Jennifer (Mike) Hart, Laura Holweger, Corinne (Cordell) Lawrence, Travis Franklin, Regan (Travis) Davis, Zenus Franklin, Zoie Franklin, Jay (Olivia) Anton and Zach (Jessica) Anton: 6 great grandchildren: brother Paul Franklin of West Liberty: and sister Jewell Eidemiller of New Carlisle. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Terry Smith will preside. Friends may call on the family from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the New Lebanon First Baptist Church Building Fund.
