Jim M. DeWitt
74, of Eaton, formerly Waterloo, Iowa, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
He was born January 7, 1949, in Mason City, Iowa, to the late Kenneth and Rosemary (Latham) DeWitt.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Terri and John Datema; brother-in-law, Mark Oltman; and best friend, Dave Kressley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Barb A. (Rasor) DeWitt; children, Gary and Tina Stevenson, Duane and Kara Stevenson, Delane and Janelle Stevenson, Jana and Mike Lindaman, and Justine Brown, and her partner, Jamie Morris; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; siblings, Tom and Sharon DeWitt, Karen and Jim Mundt, Janelle and Rich Nelson, Billiejo DeWitt, and Connie Oltman; and good friend, Betty Kressley.
One of Jim's great passions in life was his computer, where he spent countless hours diligently working on stocks and investments. He had a remarkable talent for financial analysis and was admired by many for his insights.
Music was another significant part of Jim's life, and he found great joy in singing with the Eaton Church of Christ choir. His voice lifted the spirits of all who heard it, and his enthusiasm for music was infectious. His contributions to the choir were a testament to his deep-rooted faith and love for worship.
Jim also had a green thumb and spent countless hours in his beloved vegetable garden. His passion for gardening not only yielded bountiful harvests but also allowed him to connect with the natural world in a meaningful way.
Sports held a special place in Jim's heart, and he was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds. Whether he was watching a thrilling game on TV or attending a live match, his passion for these teams was unwavering. His cheers and camaraderie with fellow fans were a cherished part of his life.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 8 from 10AM to 12:30PM at Eaton Church of Christ, 725 US Route 35 West, Eaton, OH 45320. The funeral service will begin at 12:30PM with Pastor Paul Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery, West Alexandria.
