Howard E. Strausburg

92, of Eaton, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Vancrest of Eaton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel L. and Ruth M. (Long) Strausburg; wife, Frances M. (Mills) Strausburg; and sisters, Dorothy Crain and Ina Benbow.

Howard is survived by his daughter, Beverly (Bruce, Jr.) Savage; grandchildren, Daniel and David (Amy) Clopper, Robby, Justin, and Karen Savage, and Kimberly (Aaron) Gerhard; and great grandchildren, Aiden, Chloe, Katie, and Elliot Clopper, Kylie, Stephanie, and Zoey Groff, and Ian and Annie Gerhard.

Howard's passion for automobiles was evident from an early age. He possessed an innate talent for understanding the inner workings of vehicles and spent countless hours honing his skills. As an auto mechanic, Howard's expertise was unrivaled, and his dedication to his craft was commendable. Howard's remarkable work ethic and commitment to excellence garnered him the respect and admiration of his peers and customers alike.

Beyond his love for mechanics, Howard was also an avid farmer, tending to his land with unwavering devotion. His days were filled with nurturing crops, tending to livestock, and embracing the beauty of nature. With his green thumb and profound knowledge of the agricultural world.  He greatly loved his horses and trail riding.

One of Howard's favorite pastimes was spending time at the Preble County Council on Aging, where he found immense joy in making new friends. His vibrant personality, infectious laughter, and genuine interest in others made him an instant hit with everyone he encountered. Howard never met a stranger; his warmth and genuine nature instantly put people at ease. He was a beacon of light, spreading happiness wherever he went.

Above all else, Howard was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His genuine kindness, compassionate nature, and unwavering support endeared him to his family, friends, and community. Howard's presence was a gift, and his absence will be deeply felt. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the incredible life he lived and the indelible mark he left on our hearts.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 16 from 2-4PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, 3377 US Route 35 E., West Alexandria 45381.  The funeral service will be held Monday, July 17 at 10AM, at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria.
