Helen Hamm

Helen L. Hamm, 96, of West Alexandria, OH, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday morning, July 23, 2012. Born in Brookville, IN, she was a daughter of the late Charles S. & Edith A. (Carey) Chowning. Helen was a loving, caring lady whose door was always open. She was a loyal friend who was always willing to help others and adopted everyone into her heart. Following her husband's passing, she worked at Dayton Flexible Products from 1973 - 1983. Helen was a longtime member of Full Gospel Temple in Eaton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death in November 1971 by husband Paul E. Hamm: son Gene Hamm in August of 1998; son-in-law Ronald Summers in October 2001; grandson James Summers in May 2000: sisters Mary Chowning and Esther Pfolsgrof: brothers John and Paul Chowning. A wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by children Anita Summers of West Alexandria; Richard Hamm of West Alexandria; Marilyn Taylor of Miamisburg, OH & former son-in-law Bob Taylor of West Virginia; Karen Ziemba & husband Peter John of Dayton: 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 16 great great grandchildren. Helen's family wishes to recognize and thank daughter-in-law Dawn Summers for the love and care she gave to Helen. Dawn was a Godsend who enabled Helen to remain at home with her family during the last months of her life. Friends may call on the family from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Full Gospel Temple - 4745 US Rt. 127 N. - Eaton, OH. Pastor Kenneth Harbaum presiding.
