Glenn Gisewite

Glenn L. Gisewite, age 86, of Farmersville, OH, passed away Thursday morning, November 4, 2010 following a lengthy illness. Born September 10, 1924 in Jackson Twp, Montgomery County, OH to the late Burley H. & Ruth C. (Johnson) Gisewite. A veteran of WW II, he served in the US Army with Co. I, 119th Infantry in the battles of Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired in 1986 from Dayton Chemical and had formerly worked as the manager for Shoemake Guernsey Farm in Xenia and at the Farmersville Grain Elevator. Member of Slifers Presbyterian Church, the Jackson Grange and the Farmersville Historical Society. He is also preceded in death by wife Norma Jean (Peach) on November 26, 1976; sisters Doris Swarts, Beaulah Budd and Viola Gisewite. Survived by wife Mary P, (Bauter) Gisewite whom he married February 17, 1979: children Danny Gisewite of Germantown, OH; Robert Gisewite of Brooksville, FL; Kathy Hickox of Pinellas Park, FL; Glenn E. "Butch" Gisewite of Farmersville; Becky Ewing of Germantown; and Jeanne Milot of Largo, FL: step children Kent Daugherty of England; Scot Daugherty of Springfield, OH; and Todd Daugherty of Keene NH: 8 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren: sister and brothers Virginia Rose of Dayton; Harry Gisewite of Farmersville; and Dale Gisewite of Morristown, TN: and numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH. Pastor Karel Hanhart presiding. Friends may call on the family from 2:00 - 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Slifers Presbyterian Church. Interment Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
