Gerald Richard Sampson,78, of Boston, IN, and former 20 year resident of New Lebanon, OH, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at his residence. Born October 1, 1942 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Richard Heed and Stella T. )Suszel) Sampson. Jerry was a truck driver for 61 years. His CB handle was "Ricochet Rabbit". He loved riding motorcycles and fishing; had a Catholic background and was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Boston. He and Verna have been Boston residents for the last 16 years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son Charles Richard Sampson; step daughter Mary Ellen Fisher; sister Virginia Ruble; and brother-in-law Mark. Jerry married his sweetheart Verna Bell (Honeycutt) on May 6, 1972, and have spent 49 years together as husband wife. He is also survived by son and daughter-in-law Stanley and Laurie Sampson of Camden, OH; step son Leroy Honeycutt of Pearl, Mississippi; step daughter Debora Bucklew and husband Rick of West Carrollton, OH and Geneva Avery and husband Rich; sisters Jo-Ann Sampson of Greenburg, IN and Barbara Brewer and husband Michael of Knightstown, IN; brother Roger Sampson and wife Lisa of Arlington, IN; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. No services are being planned at this time. Donations may be made to the family or the funeral home to help toward funeral expenses.
