G. Sue Schaefer

G. Sue Schaefer, 76, of New Paris, OH, passed away Thursday night December 24, 2020 at Reid Hospital in Richmond. Born January 31 1944 in Mt. Sterling, KY, she was 1 of 6 children born to the late Thomas and Nancy P. (Reffitt) Dawson. Sue was the owner operator of Feelings Florist in Dayton for 5 years; worked for Richard Roberts Florist in Dayton where she also taught at Richard Roberts floral design school; and then worked for 15 years at Helens Flowers in Greenville, retiring in 2006. She traveled to Hawaii twice and enjoyed seeing many parts of the country traveling with her husband delivering travel trailers. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by brothers and sister John Thomas Dawson, Billy Knox Dawson and Anne Katherine Dawson. Sue is survived by her husband of 45 years David E. Schaefer whom she married on October 11, 1975; children Ron Brooks of West Liberty, KY, Karen Engle and husband Bo of Dayton, Jacquelynn R. Schaefer of Troy, and Tina Brooks of New Paris; grandchildren Randy, Amanda, Amber, Ashley, Anthony, Sargent IV, Melinda, Christopher, Alyssia, Michael, Danielle; 22 great grandchildren; brother Doug Dawson of Mt. Sterling; and sister Angie Dawson of Cynthiana, KY. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH. Friends may call on the family at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 29 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
