Fred Rike

Fred E. Rike, age 84, of West Alexandria, OH, passed away suddenly Wednesday night, August 4, 2010. Born May 2, 1926 in West Alexandria, he was a son of the late David & Grace (House) Rike. Proudly serving in the US Army for several years, Fred was a lifelong farmer in Wisconsin and West Alexandria. He retired in 1971 from the Moraine Plant of the Delco Division of General Motors. Member of the NRA; life member of the AmVets of Eldorado; he had attended the Eaton Church of the Nazarene and formerly attended Twin Creek Chapel Church of West Manchester, OH. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife Catherine A. (Thomas) Rike on December 5, 2001: brothers James as an infant, Richard, Donald and Ted Rike: and sister Frances Sizemore. Survived by children Linda Evans & husband Marvin of Lewisburg, OH; James Rike of Lewisburg; Frank Rike & companion Vickie of Eldorado, OH; Sandy Eldridge & husband Landis of West Manchester; and Rick Rike & wife Bea of Nicholasville, KY: step children Ruth Glascoe & husband William of New Paris, OH; Shelby Alexander & husband Richard of Lewisburg; Bill Lawson & wife Teresa of Lewisburg; Frances Mehl & husband Doug of Lewisburg; Mitchell Hunter & wife Twila of Lewisburg: former wife Marilyn Gibbs Rike of West Alexandria: other step children Kendra Creech & husband Bob of West Alexandria; and Todd Gibbs & wife Helen of Eaton: 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild: 24 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; and 5 step great great grandchildren: sisters Sarah Masters of Eaton; Susanna Box of West Alexandria; and Ada Wysong of FL: brother Charles Rike of Lewisburg: special nephew Donald Waymire & wife Carolyn of Eaton: and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Friends may call on the family from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Interment Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
