Flossie Mae Laws, age 86, of Harlan, KY and recently of Brookville, OH, passed away Sunday morning, February 10, 2013 following a lengthy illness. Born in Ages, KY, she was a daughter of the late L.C. & Hattie (Burkhart) Wood. A lifelong resident of Harlan, Flossie came to Ohio when illnesss prevented her from living alone. She was a member of Kelly Street Baptist Church in Harlan and formerly worked as a Nurse's Aide, and in the Dietary Department, at the Old Harlan Hospital and Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband Lloyd Laws: daughter Sandra (Lewis) Cross: and the father of her daughters and best friend Clayton "Fuzz" Lewis: and son-in-law Jim Kirklin. Survived by son Orville Nolan & wife Lorene of Baxter, KY; daughters Joyce Kirklin and Kaye Lewis Lidster of Brookville: 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren: special aunt Mary Jane Risner of Evarts, KY: and a host of other family and friends. Friends may call on the family from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Friday at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH. A brief service will follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Gene Burke presiding. Cemetery services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the chapel of Resthaven Cemetery in Harlan.
