Eugene R. Clinger

Eugene R. Clinger, 84, of West Alexandria, OH, officially jumped over the Moon at 12:30 PM on December 3, 2020. Gene was born on May 2, 1936, he was the son of the late Orville and Annabell (George) Clinger. He had worked as a Binder at Dayton Press until their closing, and went on to work as a Press Operator at Neaton Auto Parts in Eaton. Even after he retired he continued to work mowing lawns for many people. Gene was a well known, beloved member of the community. His family referred to him as the "unofficial greeter at the Eaton Walmart" and was often seen occupying the bench at the store's entrance. He loved attending Dayton Dragons ball games; visiting various area churches and was a member of the Open Door Church in Eaton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife Shelby Clinger on October 2, 2001; son-in-law Curt "Chief" Tabor; brother Earl Clinger; sister Eileen Acles; and step daughters Shelia Collins and Shelley Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 18 years Shirley D. (Jeffers) Clinger whom he married February 2, 2002; children Kim Tabor of West Alexandria, Tim (Karen) Clinger of Eaton; Peggy (Kevin) Thorpe of West Alexandria; and Patty (Dan) Worley of Lebanon, OH; step children Linda Adams of Dover Delaware, Darlene Thomas of West Alexandria, Allen Richardson of Eaton and Jerry Richardson of West Alexandria; 6 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
