Ethel Lorraine Weist

Ethel Lorraine (Compton) Weist, 93, of West Alexandria, Ohio, passed into eternity on Saturday morning, July 16,2016. Born September 22, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Homer B. & Ida M. (Bishop) Compton. She worked from 1946 to 1959 as a telephone operator in Camden, Ohio. She attended the Eaton First Church of God and enjoyed sewing, making clothes and baby blankets. Ethel was in her glory when she was surrounded by her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death in 1979 by husband James Weist, whom she married March 12, 1949: brother and sisters Donald Compton, Alta Mae Stapleton, Shirley Francis and Margaret Frost. Left to carry on her legacy are her children Inez Mowen Moodie & husband George of Kersey, CO; Tony Weist & wife Myra of Camden; Ronda Weist McClellan & husband John of Cabot, AR; and Dawn Weist Angel & husband Spencer of West Alexandria: 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren: and many nieces and nephews. She was known as Mommy Ethel to Barney, Pat, Jimmy and Nevina Johnson. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Eaton First Church of God - 601 W. Lexington Rd. - Eaton, Ohio. Pastor Jerry Reynolds presiding. Friends may call on the family from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Church.
