Edward R. Klopf

Edward R. Klopf, 76, of Eaton, OH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 21, 2016 at his home and with his family at his side. Born November 10, 1940 in Buffalo, NY, he was a son of the late John & Louise (Marter) Klopf. He was a graduate of McKinley Vocational High School in Buffalo. After graduation he joined the US Navy, faithfully serving our country for 20 years before retiring in 1979. Edward was a Vietnam veteran and during his career, served aboard the USS America, the USS Yellowstone, the USS LaSalle, and the USS Mt. Whitney. After retiring from the Navy, Edward went to work for Miami University in Oxford, beginning as a custodian, then working in food service, and last as a supplies assistant, retiring after 18 years. He was a life member of the D.A.V., enjoyed bowling, fishing and woodworking, and was an avid lover of dogs and all animals. In addition to his parents, Edward is preceded in death by brothers Joseph and John Klopf; sisters Mary Myers, Margaret Manzella, Veronica Turner, Lucille Stojeck and Jeannie Fusion. He is survived by his wife Edna M. (Tulett) Klopf whom he married May 5, 1962; daughter Dionne Hawkins & husband Rob of Eaton; grandchildren Dustin & wife Sabrina, Chase & wife Ashley, Angel & husband Kenny, Brittany & husband Matt and Colt & wife Elizabeth; great grandchildren Hunter, Aaliyah, Natalie, Conner, Cameron, Emma, Levi, Ethan, Miles, Emery, Marshall and Jersey. Friends may call on the family from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Hospice Chaplain Rick Alvey presiding. Military Honors will be provided at the graveside by members of the US Navy. Burial Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
