Earnest E. Mastin

Earnest Elwood Mastin, 85, of Franklin, OH, went home to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, September 26, 2019. Born September 16, 1934 in Cynthiana, KY, he was a son of the late Tilford Earl and Lucy Jane Mastin. A 1954 graduate of Harrison County High School in Cynthiana, Earnest married Elaine Wood Henson on June 3, 1956 at the Indian Creek Christian Church in Cynthiana. He served the Lord as a Pastor for many years at different churches including the Bethel Church of Christ in Ada, OH; Carey's Run Church of Christ in Portsmouth, OH; Bedford Acres Church of Christ in Paris, KY; the Franklin Church of Christ in Franklin, OH; and others as well. During his lifetime, we worked many different places to supplement a Pastor's salary. The family recalls him holding three jobs at one time. Places he worked include a bank in Cincinnati; United Dairy Farmers; the Dayton Daily News; Marsh's Supermarket; Coast to Coast Hardware; Kroger; a school bus driver in Paris, KY; helped friends farm by stripping tobacco; then retired after 15 ½ years with Pepsi Cola Bottling Company in Hamilton having worked on the loading dock, then as a distribution truck driver. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death on January 28, 2004 by beloved wife Elaine; grandson Lee Hatfield; three brothers Howard William Mastin, Charles Haviland Mastin and Junior Mastin. He is survived by daughters Katrinka Bryant, Karinda Mastin, and Kristy Mastin; grandchildren Matthew Bryant, Christopher Rose, Ashley Hurst, Krystal Hatfield, and Jacob Horton; great grandchildren Khloe Horton, Rylee Horton, Kylan Horton, Elias Horton, LaVada Hatfield, Lynn Hatfield, Brooklyn Bryant, Matthew Bryant, Kai Bryant, Temperance Bryant; sister Doris Jean Franklin and brother David Allen Mastin; and a host of other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 PM Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM with Pastors Joseph Douthett and Robert Jones officiating, followed by burial of cremated remains at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
