Douglas E. Gilbert

Douglas E. Gilbert, 82, of Farmersville, OH, passed away early Friday morning, February 3, 2017. Born September 15, 1934, he was the son of the late Dixon & Katherine (Piatt) Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert served with the US Army Reserve from August of 1957 to July of 1963. He worked as a fuel oil delivery driver for 30+ years and retired in 1999 from the Columbia Oil Company of Hamilton. A member of St. Andrew Church in Farmersville, he also served as a volunteer firefighter in Farmersville for 27 years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, kite flying, was a model train enthusiast and member of the CPR & SS Train Club at Carillon Park. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on September 27, 2016 by beloved wife Patricia C. (DeWeese) Gilbert, whom he married December 23, 1957; and is survived by daughter Theresa J. Dill of Farmersville. A memorial service will be held 7:00 PM Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6:00 - 7:00 PM.
