Dorothy “Dottie” M. McMurray

88, of West Alexandria, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

She was born January 20, 1936, in Norris, Tennessee, to the late Richard A. Sr. and Mattie M. (Keaton) Brannon.

In addition to her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Jerrald McMurray; son, John P. McMurray; great granddaughter, Lana McMurray; siblings, Bud (Beverly) Brannon, Wanda (Bill) McMurray, Mary Jackson, Thomas (Alma) Brannon, and Carl Brannon; father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Daisy McMurray; and brothers-in-law, Jim McMurray, Billy McMurray, and Raymond Turner.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori (Joseph) Pierce; grandchildren, John P. McMurray II, Jeremiah (Stephanie) McMurray, Elizabeth (Scott) Jones, Chanceler Pierce, and Logan Pierce; great grandchildren, Aryann McMurray, Jerrald McMurray, Persephonie McMurray, Jeremiah McMurray II, Hollas McMurray, Castiel McMurray, Will Hammond, Joshua Jones, Sophie Jones, and Addalynn Jones; sisters-in-law Leta (Richard) Donohoo, Ruby Turner;  along with many loving nieces and nephews, family, and friends; and her beloved dog, Peaches.

Dottie was a loving and adventurous spirit who found joy in the great outdoors. She loved camping under the stars, fishing by the water, hunting, and nurturing her flower and vegetable gardens. Horseback riding was one of her favorite pastimes, as was gathering with family for cherished moments. Dottie also collected tea pots.  Her greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved grandchildren, creating memories that will live on in their hearts.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 5 from 5PM to 7PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria.  The funeral service will begin at 12PM on Wednesday, November 6 at the funeral center, with Pastor Elbert Sorrell officiating.  Burial will follow at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.  A luncheon will be held afterwards in the Preble Memory Gardens Community Room.
